Domestic Church is an officially recognized international lay movement for sacramentally married couples that provides lifelong formation for achieving holiness together and providing an ideal environment for raising children. It was founded in Poland with the support and guidance of Bl. John Paul II, and it has spread all over the world. Lake Charles, beginning with Queen of Heaven, is the first English-speaking Domestic Church community. The formation and practices of the movement are not limited to a particular founder’s vision, but are taken from the rich spiritual tradition of the Catholic Church and utilizes Scripture, Church documents and the writings of Bl. John Paul II to provide couples with continuous growth in their joint journey toward sainthood.
Interested couples would attend a Domestic Church retreat and then decide if they would like to continue into the movement, which consists of circles of 4-7 couples and a priest, who meet once a month to pray and discuss formation and progress.
